Grizz !!A name that was given to him for fun but soon became a commentary on his character.
This little guy was the "Bad-Ass" of the litter at an early age. Not the biggest. Just the "Baddest!"(In this respect he was a little like the Bad Billy dog bred up by J&J Kennels and now owned by Weapon-X Kennels)
When Colt, [new owner] picked him up he was just another black/brown-brindle colored Patterdale.
Once Grizz got accustomed to his new home he began to take charge...sort of.
This is a 6-month old Grizz making sure the rows are straight. Hey! Someone has to do it!
By the time Grizz was a year old he was starting to find things [small animals] to kill.
At about 9~10 months age he discovered 'possums. That's when Grizz began to assume his duty as "Lord High Executioner" of the farm. All vermin are treated with equal contempt!
Death by Patterdale is an ugly business but someone has to do it. Grizz took these duties seriously.
It isn't always ugly work.
One day he caught a "tweety bird" (we don't know how) and brought it home alive for a decision from "his Lordship"...Colt.
Grizz making history by bringing home a "tweety-Bird" alive. How many Patterdale Terriers would do that?!?
Grizz isn't scared to try almost anyting if it looks like fun.
But...
What he really likes is finding, catching and, uh,
Dealing-with opossums!
"There's just so many of the vile creatures! Where do they all come from?!? grrr"
The day finally came when Grizz met a raccoon that was flushed from hiding.
With some help from Colt, Grizz soon had the 'coon under control and,
the girls,
(Baily and Dixie) were released to help.
(Right photo)Shortly after dealing with the raccoon everyone took a break on the back porch.
Check back every now and then because the adventures of Grizz are just getting started!
